iDVD 2 buffer underrun error (Posted 11/9/2001 at 10:48 AM)
For those of you who have iDVD 2 and have experienced the same buffer underrun error that we (and many others) have, here is the solution we found on Apple's Discussing boards that appears to work for us:

1. Make sure that all types of sharing are off (Web, FTP, AppleShare, Telnet)
2. Turn off network time updating
3. Set energy saver to never for both hard disk and display sleep
4. Don't run anything else while it is burning

The best we can tell, the problem occurs when the machine can't access the hard drive fast enough to keep up with the burning process. So anything that may touch the hard drive while you are burning should be avoided. We started out with only item 1 and were creating 4 nice coasters for every 5 we tried. After also doing numbers 4 and 5, we haven't had a single failure and have burned close to 35 DVDs. This is on a Quicksilver 867 for those who might ask.
